Chiquita is a 7YO Quarter Horse mare who is just over 15.2H and weighs about 1100 lbs.  She has been on the trails for the past three years and we are told is suitable for a more intermediate rider.  She has also been learning some arena work in the form of dressage.  We are told she can be ridden out alone.  She is friendly and has nice ground manners, trailer loads easily and stands for the farrier.  Her owner relinquished her to Ruby Ranch because she is on her way back to school and was more concerned about her going to a good home than getting money for her.  Chiquita has a pretty face with "freckles" in her big blaze.  We haven't assessed her under saddle yet and will post more information along with her adoption donation when that gets accomplished.

Update:  We have ridden Chiquita several times and she is calm under saddle as well as on the ground.  She tacks up easily in a western saddle even though she's mostly been ridden English.  She knows all of her cues and was easy to ride.  Chiquita can be a little on the lazy side but with more consistent riding she will most likely tune in to "the ask" faster than what we have experienced.

Update:  Chickie has had some tune-up training and is a horse that just needs more consistant handling and riding.  She also needs her human to teach her the trot to canter transition.  She has been evaluated and treated by our equine chiropractor, Dr. Sandi Grover, who found some lumbar stiffness and sore muscles.  That's been corrected and may have been contributing to Chickie's difficulty with easily flowing into the canter.  We find her to be consistently calm under saddle, likes to snooze when just standing around, but moves off your leg, seat and rein cues nicely.
