Cosmos - Oct. 2008
Cosmos: We have given Cosmos an approximate birthdate of April 15, 2007. He was a mistake breeding, one of several from the Sombrero Ranch. We were told that his mom is part draft and he looks it with that thick neck, stout body and large-boned legs and knees. Thanks to Beth Richard of Ft. Collins for picking up Cosmos and his buddies out of the feedlot after they were purchased at auction by a slaughter buyer. Cosmos is a brave and confident youngster who loves human attention. Cosmos stands for the farrier, trailer loads and hooks on nicely in the roundpen.
He is currently just about 15H and 1000 lbs. He is easy to catch and very friendly, gets along well with his herdmates. He is very nicely proportioned and is smart and curious.
Update: This big fella stood so nicely in the roundpen and allowed himself to be saddled. He was mildly curious but not reactive. He faces up nicely when worked in the roundpen, knows cues for lowering his head, disengaging his hindquarters and longeing.
