Adopted!

Dillon is a beautiful registered 10YO quarterhorse gelding.  He is about 15.1 and weighs close to 1100 lbs. He came to Ruby Ranch with a slight lameness issue involving his right front.  We are still assessing this problem.  We have a farrier who has recommended that he be ridden under saddle at the walk for several months before pushing him to a trot.  So far, the lameness is not noticeable at the walk.  Dillon is very nicely trained and his rider needs to have soft hands and legs to be respectful of his abilities.  Dillon is a friendly horse who comes easily to his human when it's time to ride.  He stands well for the farrier and trailer loads.

Update:  January 22 - Dillon received a minor but deep cut on his foreleg and has been doctored for it during the past month.  We will now resume his 5-day a week conditioning rides at the walk.  Watch for updates soon.

Update:  February 16 - Dillon's recent hoof trim resulted in some minor discomfort/lameness on the right front.  We will proceed with getting additional evaluation to see if we can resolve whatever is bothering him.

Update:  April 16 - Dr. Unruh evaluated Dillon and recommended we inject the coffin joint with hyaluronic acid and a steroid.  He detected that Dillon's mild lameness was coming from that joint and the injection would remove the inflammation.  He feels that Dillon would do well as a trail horse.  The injection may need to be done again in six months to a year.  Dillon is scheduled for this treatment on May 13.
