Ellie is a 5 year old red roan mare, just over 15.1H, weighs about 1100 lbs. Ellie came to us with very little handling and has since been halter trained with work on ground manners and some roundpen training. She is a friendly, intelligent and willing girl who stands well for the farrier. She is calm enough to let you sit on her when she is lying down and sunbathing. Because of lack of hoof care as a youngster, Ellie's right hoof grew outward which forced her knee slightly inward. The vet says she could be sound for a lighter weight rider and easier trail riding. She needs to be saddle trained. Or, she would make a friendly and easy-keeper companion horse. As with all of our mares, there is a "no breeding" stipulation in her adoption contract.
Update: Ellie is in a foster home, keeping an older TB mare company.
It's a good match and we hope a good long-term home for Ellie.
