Funk Road Horses:

Update January 15:  The last horse to be placed in a new home is dead.  He was left at the perpetrator's property until a home could be found for this 10YO stud, Sabre, who could not be caught.  When the Sheriff's Dept. checked back on Tuesday, he was down and did not recover.  The vet check revealed that he was malnourished and dehydrated.

Sabre, an 8-10YO Arabian stallion, died on Wed. January 13.

Penelope is a 4-5 year who was born with a congenital problem with her jaw and with her legs.   Penelope has an infected hind leg as well as a fungal infection of her skin.  She also has crushed tarsals which deviates her hocks inward. Veterinary care early on would have helped her immensely. Our wonderful verterinary team, Dr. Sandi and Brian Grover have given us hope that this sweetest most trusting girl could have a useful life as a companion animal!  She is being sponsored by our terrific volunteers, Matt and Debbie Girard!

5-month-old studcolt, very thin - Arabian - Adopted!

Sabrina - Arabian mare, probably in foal, Mom to above studcolt. She is a sweet mare, easily haltered and likes attention.  Adopted!

This mustang stud is in the best condition, although he has a nasty gash on his left upper leg.  He is fairly harsh with the mares.  His tail was chewed off by one of the foals.  Adopted!

Call Ruby Ranch Horse Rescue at 719-541-3642 if you are able to contribute hay, grain, a foster home or a monetary donation to help Penelope.

Grulla mare, 3-4YO, grade, with Debbie, a volunteer. She likes attention but is bargy and has not been trained with ground manners. She has a nasty cut on a hind leg. Probably in foal.  Adopted!

This is an 8-10YO Arabian stud named Sabre.  Not catchable at the moment. We are told he is a registered Egyptian Arabian.  Died of starvation/dehydration on January 13.
