The following horses are owned privately.  They are in need of new homes. Any information posted below came from the owner of the horse.  RRHR has not seen these horses and cannot verify that information is accurate.   Please contact the owners of these horses for additional information.

July 29 - Jesse is a grey 3YO registered Egyptian Arabian gelding.  He should mature to 15H.  He was hand raised by his owner, good for the farrier, easy to work with and handle.  Tootsie  is a 6YO registered Egyptian Arabian mare who is currently being trained to pull a cart.  She has an old hind leg injury and should not be ridden however she is very athletic and not lame.  Tootsie is dark grey and would also make an excellent companion horse.  Gamill is a 4YO grey Egyptian Arabian stud who needs to be castrated.  He is attentive and willing and has been started with ground work.  These horses are located in Black Forest.  Call BJ for more information, 719-339-7657.  They are free to a good home however BJ would like to be reimbursed for the cost of castrating Jesse.

July 15 - Lilly (Adopted!) is a registered solid-color paint, Lilly's Impressiverule.  She is 14.1H, about 700 lbs and very well trained.  Lilly is a little rusty so would not be suitable for a beginner, although a confident advanced beginner would most likely do fine after a brief tune-up.  Lilly has had trail and dressage experience and has been a pleasure horse.  Lilly has a mild right front lameness issue caused by improper shoeing and is on the way to having that corrected.  Her current owner took her on hoping to fit her in a lesson program, but Lilly is not a beginner's horse.  She loves attention and is well broke to ride. She is up-to-date on vaccinations, farrier and deworming; she stands well for the farrier and trailer loads easily. For additional information contact Heather at 970-691-0599, heather@thewholehorseriding.com.  Lilly is located near Fort Collins and Heather is asking $400 reimbursement for expenses incurred.

June 28 - Candy (Adopted!) is a 16YO registered paint mare.  She has been trained under saddle but not ridden for awhile so she needs a tune-up.  Candy stands at about 14-15H and is sorrel/white.  She would be suitable for an intermediate rider. Candy can be trailer loaded and stands for the farrier.
Ziggy (Adopted!) is an 8YO grey quarter horse type mare who is about 14H. She is trained under saddle and her owner has used a hackamore because she does not like to wear a bit.  She is suitable for an intermediate rider.  She stands for the farrier and is the mom to Sweetheart, below.
Sweetheart (Adopted!) is a black 4YO mare who is not yet saddle trained but has good ground manners, is halter trained and needs a patient farrier to do her trims.  She is a smart girl and trailer loads if another horse is going along as well.
All three of the above horses are free to good homes.  Please contact Gene at 970-380-1526.  They are located in Roggen which is off I-76 about 48 miles NE of Denver.

June 28 - Kid is a 20 year old American Saddlebred gelding who has been shown and ridden on the trails.  Kid is 16H and is not a beginner's horse although he has had beginners on him.  He is not a dangerous horse but has more energy than a beginner would know how to handle.  Kid has a slight hitch in a hind leg from an old injury.  The vet report says it is not a painful issue and Kid is still ridable and useful as a trail horse.  He has been a pasture horse all of his life and does well with other horses in a herd situation.  Kid is located in Broomfield and is free to that good home.  His owner, Morgan, has owned him all of his life and is very sad to have to let him go.  She can be emailed at mssilvertiger@hotmail.com.

June 21 - Merango is a registered 25YO Arabian gelding who is well trained in English pleasure, Western pleasure and jumping and he's been ridden on the trails.  He was just given a clean bill of health and a float at Commanche Creek Vet Clinic in Kiowa.  Merango is a sorrel gelding who stands 13-14H and has very good ground manners.  He is most suitable for an intermediate rider.  His owner, Diana, recently lost her job and sadly can no longer keep him.  Merango is located just east of Kiowa off Commanche Creek Rd.  He is free to a good home.  Call or text message Diana at 720-999-4541.

June 21 - Jet is a 14-15YO Quarterhorse gelding who has basically been a pasture pet all of his life.  He has been saddled in the past and carried the grandchildren leadline but has had no formal training.  He is light sorrel with flaxen mane and tail and four white stockings, a very pretty boy.  His owner died and her husband, Stan, is wanting to find him a good home.  Jet is very gentle and stands at about 16H.  He is located east of Kiowa at Jumping Cow Ranch.  Call Stan at 720-635-3161 or email at grahamcolorado@gmail.com.  Jet is free to that good home.

June 18 - (Adoption Pending!) Diamond is a 20YO white pony with a long mane and tail.  She is the sweetest girl, follows you around, very gentle and likes to be groomed.  She has had a neglectful past and needs regular hoof care to get her tiny hooves back in shape.  She was a young boys pony for many years.  Diamond is being represented by Ruby Ranch Horse Rescue and will be adopted, free of charge, to that good home, under the RRHR adoption application and contract which are located on the "Adoption Forms" page.  Please call us at 719-541-3642 or email at pr@rrhr.net for more information.  Diamond is located in Ramah, CO.

May 31 - Red (currently at a therapeutic riding center, may be available in the fall) is a 15.1H, 20YO Kentucky Mountain Horse.  Red's veterinarian calls him "The Gentleman."  Red is very quiet, will carry a beginner or even someone who doesn't know a thing about horses; his owner can't say enough about Red's quiet, friendly and benevolent demeanor.  He has the start of arthritis per x-rays and his owner would like to find him a home where there is more flat riding than steep.  Although he is still able to do hilly trails, the time will come when he will be less able.  He is a wonderful baby-sitter for unconfident or young horses.  His owner would like to see him go to a forever home who will be sensitive to his needs as he ages. He does best as a pasture horse - when stalled will begin to crib, which is curtailed by a felt neck sweat.  For more information, email Karen at kjohnson@prairieweb.com.  Red is located in Nebraska, owner
may be able to transport.

May 30:  Riley is a 16 year old TB gelding, chestnut with a white blaze, easy keeper, low man on the totem pole. He is just over 16 hands. Here's what Riley's owner says about him: "I got him as a 3 year old from Kentucky, he was bred to be a racer but never raced. I did hunter jumpers with him and some first and second level dressage. An eight year old girl leased him for 2 years. After that he was turned out on 100 acres, I moved him to Colorado two years ago and with work and a new daughter I don't have the time for him he needs. He hasn't been sat on in 5-6 years. I just want him to have attention and be loved and live out his years being a horse. Which to me is being turned out during the day and in at night. He is a little stiff in the mornings but it works out after he is turned out and had a suspensory strain when he was 5 years of age. Other that that he has been healthy. He is current on all vaccinations with a negative coggins. He has perfect ground manners, has never bitten, bucked, or kicked anyone. He is beautiful with blonde flicks in his mane." Contact Mindy at
mmullins4@yahoo.com.  Riley is free to a good home and is located in Longmont.

May 23:  This horse needs a home ASAP.  He is a coming 3YO TB/Paint gelding that his owner is having trouble keeping weight on because of alkali in the ground at their pasture.  The owner says he is a very sweet guy, tall and leggy and has been ridden by a 12 year old boy.  He has no kick, buck or bite in him and is a pocket pony who loves attention. His 4 year old has also ridden him.  Contact Nick at 719-371-4182 or nickmartin@msn.com.

May 23:  Keelie is an 8YO papered TB mare, standing at 15.3H.  She has been well trained but not ridden in the past two years.  She was trained in hunters, is very easy to get along with, quiet, excellent ground manners, travels in a nice frame, she just needs a tune-up.  Keelie is accustomed to children grooming her, she is pretty and looks more like a quarterhorse than a thoroughbred.  Her owner, Jill, can give you more information.  Call her at 719-688-8978.  Keelie is located in Peyton.

May 15:  Shy is a registered Quarterhorse gelding, 17 years old and stands at about 15.2 and weighs about 1200 lbs.  He is very well trained in western pleasure.  Shy is not suitable for a boarding facility but needs to live with his own humans and other horses.  He gets nervous when confined to a small pen and other horses are coming and going around him.  Shy needs a confident beginner or above rider.  He currently wears shoes to help correct a suspected navicular problem and is sound .  Update:  Shy is now located at Dreamcatchers Equine Rescue south of Colorado Springs.  Contact them at 719-382-4166 or info@dcerinc.com  for more information.
