Amy and Rusty, picking up the trot.

Rusty is a 10 year old gelding who we are told is a solid paint.  We were also told he is nicely trained, just needs a tune-up.  His previous owner suffered a non-horse related back injury and gave him up to Ruby Ranch to find him his new forever home.  He has been well cared for.  He is a sweet horse and wants to get along with all of the other geldings and tends to be lower on the pecking order.  Rusty is not quite 15H and weighs close to 1000 lbs.  He is a nicely put together and stout quarter horse type.  We will saddle him soon and post additional information as well as his adoption donation once he has been evaluated.

Update:  Rusty is, well, "rusty."  He has had some nice training under saddle and on his first ride in awhile he settled in and started to pay attention to what was asked of him.  We rode him with a western saddle and a halter with lead rope tied into reins, although we discovered he pays attention better wearing a snaffle bit.  He was not at all concerned about tarped stacks of lumber, logs to walk over or even leaving the safety of his herd.  He moved up to a trot with just a little more than an "ask" and prefers to mosey along and expend little energy.

We think that with more consistant handling and riding, Rusty will make a nice trail horse.

Update:  Rusty will be returning from his winter foster home sometime in April.  We will get him going again under saddle and post an update at that time.

Adoption Donation:   $600.
