Spot has joined us here at Ruby Ranch.  You can tell from his picture with the large "spot" over his left eye, that his name fits.  He is a coming 4YO black/white paint gelding.  He's a sweet fella, stands for the farrier, trailer loads and has decent ground manners.  His previous owner told us she was going to start him under saddle, in spite of his failed knee surgery.  According to veterinary assessment, he is not ridable.  He came to us way too thin and now is happily eating all that we give him.  Spot is suitable as a companion horse and wants to get along with everyone else.  He is available for foster or for adoption.

Update:  Spot has gained weight and looks great!  He is friendly and loves his treats!  He has readily bonded with Skye, an American Saddlebred who needed a friend.  Spot and Skye play like youngsters, rearing, running, bucking and kicking.  Spot just doesn't let that knee bother him!

Update:  October 11, 2010 - Spot was euthanized today.  His poor knees were deteriorating but what we think caused the most difficulty for him was the heart condition he had.  He was increasingly falling down and a cursory exam revealed neurological problems in both the front and hind legs, possibly due to mini-strokes.  Spot was the clown, always friendly, and was a happy horse to the end.  He will be missed!
